Cone Beam CT
3D Digital X-Rays

It’s important for the team at Greg L. LaVecchia, DMD, PC that our dental practice not only keeps up-to-date with the latest dental treatment techniques through continued education, but also uses the latest advancements in dental technology. X-rays have come a long way since our dental practice first opened, and we are proud to provide our patients with the latest X-ray technology using dental cone beam computed tomography (CT).

What is Cone Beam Technology?

This special X-ray equipment is used when a standard dental X-ray is not sufficient. Cone Beam CT technology allows your dentist to produce a 3D image of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and your bone.

Benefits of Cone Beam

Cone Beam CT digital 3D images create a much clearer picture of your mouth and teeth so that we can provide you with the most accurate insights into your oral health. These X-rays are particularly useful when planning more technical procedures such as dental implants, root canals, tooth extractions, reconstructive procedures, and TMJ. We are also able to detect sinus issues and even issues such as tumors around the jaw.

The X-ray Process

During your consultation, you will be asked to stand or sit while the 3-point head support keeps your head as still as possible. Our ORTHOPHOS SL 3D cone beam CT machine has handles to provide even more support while you are having your scan taken. The X-ray is pain-free and fast — you will be on your way out of the dental practice door before you know it.
