At Greg L. LaVecchia, DMD, PC, our philosophy is to provide old-fashioned service alongside modern dental technology. Therefore, it’s important for all of our dentists to take part in continuing education courses to stay on top of the latest dental treatment techniques and to also have state-of-the-art technology for our dental patients in Rosslyn, VA.
X-ray technology has advanced greatly since our dental practice first opened over 50 years ago, and we are proud to provide our patients with the latest X-ray technology using dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). Instead of a standard 2D dental X-ray, cone beam imaging technology provides a 3D view of your teeth to get a much deeper insight into your oral health.
What Are the Benefits of Cone Beam Technology?
The ORTHOPHOS SL 3D cone beam 3D imaging machine that we use is comfortable, fast and pain-free.
Digital 3D images allow for a much clearer view of your mouth and teeth so we can provide the most accurate insights into your oral health.
3D X-rays are extremely useful when planning more technical procedures such as dental implants, root canals, tooth extractions, reconstructive procedures, and TMJ.
We are able to see not only your teeth, but also your soft tissues, nerve pathways, and your bones when using this technology.
The cone beam technology allows your dentist to detect sinus issues and even tumors around the jaw.
What Happens During the Cone Beam X-Ray Process?
During your appointment, you will sit or stand in the cone beam CT imaging machine (it will be adjusted to your height for your comfort). The machine has a 3-point head support that will help your head stay as still as possible — it also has handles for more support if needed. Each scan takes just minutes so you will be on your way out of the dental practice door before you know it.
Using this modern dental technology helps provide our team with even more confidence when managing your oral health. We can detect issues earlier before they become a bigger problem, and it can help provide the most accurate and effective care during complicated procedures.
If the fear of uncomfortable X-rays were putting you off your visit to our dental practice please don’t hesitate to book your appointment today, knowing that we go above and beyond to ensure your visit is fast and as comfortable as we can make it. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
