Meet Dr. Ghassib
Periodontist & Assistant Professor
Dr. Iya Ghassib is a diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the Virginia Commonwealth University. She earned her DDS from the University of Jordan in 2015 and gained experience as a general dentist before advancing her specialization. Dr. Ghassib then served as a visiting research scholar at the University of Michigan, contributing to research in periodontics and implantology.
Dr. Ghassib completed a three-year residency program and earned her master’s degree in periodontics from the University of Michigan, gaining advanced training in periodontal therapy and dental implant surgery. She co-authored several publications focusing on the impact of systemic risk factors on periodontal and peri-implant diseases, including big data analyses.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Ghassib enjoys traveling, exploring diverse cultures, hiking, and photography.
